A huge thank you to all who turned up to the KKC Wolfreton Marathon on Sunday 7th October. Thankfully we had a dry, almost windless day for paddling.
Many thanks to the support paddlers, time-keeper, trailer tugger and turn Marshalls for volunteering to help. I have to give a special thanks to Lesley and Claire for much of the pre-organisation and administration on the day despite the interruptions they allocated boats, took money and wrote certificates.
It was great to see the racing boats out of the KKC store – now is the time to revamp them and perhaps (say it softly) renew some of them. Well done to those who paddled them. Hopefully more people will move up from the Lightnings and the Fun race in future events. As a club we have the chance to make a real step forward in development of this discipline.
The K2’s who paddled to Snakeholme Lock met up with six swans, although I saw two other circling overhead. This slowed the front pair of the Jeffries down as they gently coaxed them out of the way.
We had paddlers from KKC, Pennine, Malton and District, Manvers, Hull University and some Independents giving a spread of experience. Remember to support their races next year.
Hopefully everyone was reasonably happy with the prize giving – I think I only made one error in the results with Paul Woodward due the Silver in the Adult Fun – this was changed on the day and sorry Paul about that I just misread the results list in all the excitement.
For KKC Members I will calculate times and see if any one qualifies for BCU Placid Water Racing Awards – If any other club wishes to award them please use the times I post to claim them.
